It is an environmentally responsive form of landscaping that uses a
variety of drought-tolerant plants, shrubs, succulents and ground cover
that minimizes outdoor water consumption.
This form of landscaping is particularly suited for "Mediterranean"
climates regions like California, Southern Europe, North Africa, Western
Asia, South Africa, Australia etc.. Plants which are appropriate in one
climate may not work well in another. Landscapes need to be planned to be
compatible with locally available resources, including water, soil
types, native plants and sunlight. |
